My Process

Situational Review: We discuss issues and concerns, review your values, vision and mission. I conduct interviews with a selection of your volunteers, staff and, where appropriate, clients.

SWOT Analysis: A deep dive into your volunteer program’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Involves discussions with senior staff and review of interview results.

Gap Analysis: Once we know where things are currently at, we can figure out where things need to be. Through meetings with the executive director and volunteer coordinator, we develop a clear vision of your ideal volunteer program.

Recommendations: I provide specific recommendations in various areas to help your organization move from where you are to where you want to be. These recommendations are based on the results of the interviews I conduct and the SWOT and Gap analyses.

Plan Creation: I provide a document that includes the results from the review and the analyses, specific and actionable suggestions in five different areas including recruitment, training, management, review and appreciation. You will be provided a comprehensive implementation plan to help you put each of the recommendations into place.

With fifty years of volunteering behind me and close to three decades serving in progressively higher leadership positions in not-for-profit organizations, including senior Board of Director positions, I understand the issues that social impact agencies deal with regularly. 

I have made a lifelong study of volunteer leadership concepts and best practices, which gives me a wide range of directions to come from on any given issue.
